Character Name: Lorna Dane
Canon source: X-mens/War of Kings/X-men: Kingbreaker
Personality: Lorna is a very confident and strong woman, always making it a point that she doesn't belong to anyone. Not only does she hold this attitude because of the various ways she's been used over the years, but also because she is a bit of a feminist, and is not afraid of telling everyone how she thinks, or how it is. Lorna is a very loyal person, and she sticks to her guns no matter if it's hard or not. She's experienced various moments of instability, and she agrees more with Magneto's viewpoint on human and mutant relations than she does Xavier. She's seen humanity at their worst, and it has affected her.
Though Lorna used to be calm and sweet, she's since been a lot darker and more violent ever since experiencing Genosha. She greatly fears being used, and manipulated, as well as being possessed. Though she has these fears, she is actually very strong willed. She was able to battle her demons in a very stressful moment, and actually overcome her problems just by pushing her inner strength; though she's been through a lot in her life, she always manages to pull through just by how determined she is. Lorna won't put up with people trying to speak for her, especially if that person is Alex. She can be a little snippy when she wants to be, and she has very little patience for people she doesn't like. All and all, she is a good person who always does what she needs to do.
Lorna's able to get along with just about everyone she meets, unless they're interested in Alex. She hates immaturity, and she hates pointless arguing. She takes great pride in her powers, and was absolutely devastated when she lost hers. Lorna is easily able to go into quick fits of denial when she's faced with loss, and she does have the tendency to push people away when she's feeling too vulnerable. Lorna is very open about sexuality, and has no problems with talking about it with anyone else. She's got a little "I'd hit it and admit it" attitude as well.
Lorna doesn't like to kill, but she will. Though she's done some questionable things, she does feel some remorse over the things she's done and she doesn't like to do bad things. Recently, she has decided herself to be very dangerous because of the powers Apocalypse gave her, and that is one of the main reasons she left the mansion: in fear of herself. It all goes back to her issues with control, and how if she can't keep control of her own actions, she doesn't want to be close to anyone. Now, since she's been in space healing herself, she's become a lot better, and less unstable, She was even well enough to fight in numerous wars, along with forge a meaningful relationship with her nice, Luna.
History: Here. It's a detailed history, but I'm pulling her from War of Kings, just a bit before Lilandra's funeral.
Strengths: Lorna has control over magnetic fields, which allows her to manipulate metallic objects, create concussive blasts and forcefields, reverse people's bloodflow, and fly. Because of M-Day, Apocalypse has souped up her powers to huge levels. Not to mention, she is also able to cleanse herself, and it is very likely that she still retains her Pestilence powers, as it was near impossible for the Shi'Ar to hold her captive BECAUSE she was so powerful. She is also able to sense unique magnetic fields that people have, and tell if they are actually the real deal by it. Lorna has been trained by Magneto, and knows how to use her powers very well because of it. She went to university, and has a masters in geophysics. Lorna has a very strong personality, and doesn't let anyone stop her from doing what she wants to do. Lorna is an intellectual, and she's trained in combat just like the rest of the X-men. She's a feminist, she speaks her mind when it comes to the rights of women and the rights of mutants.
Weaknesses: Alex is her weakness, really. Magneto is also a huge focus of her life, and as is any mention of Genosha. Lorna is a mentally damaged young woman due to witnessing/surviving a mass genocide of millions of mutants. Also, she's weak to being smacked in the head with trees because that's apparently a good way to take her down. The fact she's been mind controlled SO MANY TIMES has also left her with a severely shattered psyche. Lorna is afraid of being controlled by anyone else, and by people going into her head. Though she's had to deal with Genosha, she still carries it with her.
Preferred drop-in point: New York
What are some of your plans for this character in their new environment? Jan needs her gf back, okay? Also humans go home and X-men stuff.
